Privacy & analytics

Optional Google Analytics

For visitors identified as being in the United States, Google Analytics is on by default unless they have opted out or their browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. In Europe and all other locations, including when we cannot identify the country, we ask before loading analytics or setting its cookies. Cloudflare estimates the country from the connection’s IP address; this estimate can be affected by VPNs and other routing.

When analytics is on, Google processes usage information such as pages visited, browser and device information, referral sources, and clicks on data downloads or external links. We use this to understand which pages and tools are useful.

Our custom click events omit URL query strings and fragments. Google’s automatic page views include the page URL. Advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled. Google Analytics may store first-party cookies, including cookies whose names begin with _ga, to distinguish visits.

You can turn analytics off at any time using Analytics preferences in the footer, in any country, and still use all of the site. Your choice is saved in this browser. Withdrawing consent stops tracking and removes the site's Google Analytics cookies; it does not delete information already collected.

Read more about Google's processing in its Privacy Policy.

Local preferences and site operation

We store your theme, chart display preferences and analytics choice in browser storage. These preferences let the site remember your settings. Our hosting and delivery providers also process requests to serve and protect the site, independently of optional analytics.
